Standard German Courses

If you are planning to study English taught Bachelor or Master degree in Germany, most German universities do not require German proficiency for your studies as a part of admission requirement, however some universities may require basic German language level A1 or A2 as a part of the admission requirement. It is important that though you do not need German language skills for your studies at the university, having a certain proficiency in German language can be of great help during your day to day studies and to find part time jobs during your studies in Germany.

Logik Sprachzentrum has designed Standard German courses in order to meet the German language needs of English taught Program applicants who have to focus mainly on conversational German in order to be able to integrate in the German society and or the workplace. Standard German courses are specially designed courses which focus on day to day conversations and improving the German language skills in real life setting either by dialogues or role plays during the class hours. Our standard German courses are what other schools in Kathmandu deliver as intensive courses. Students attending our standard courses must allocate at least 3 hours of time at home for assignments and self-learning if the students want to get the best out of the German courses.

Standard German Course A1

Our standard German language course A1 is suitable for complete beginners and consists of 144 Teaching units delivered in the classroom with the use of Audio-Visual. Netzwerk A1 books are used during the courses in addition to an abundance of handouts and teaching materials from other publishers. Students taking the course complete the course with final examination Start Deutsch 1 at the end of the course. The duration of the course is 8 weeks.

Standard German Course A2

Standard German language course A2 at Logik Sprachzentrum is suitable for students who have passed Start Deutsch 1 Examination with at least 60 percent marks and consists of 144 Teaching units delivered in classroom with the use of Audio-Visual. Netzwerk A2 books are used during the courses in addition to an abundance of handouts and teaching materials from other publishers. The duration of the course is 10 weeks.

Standard German Course B1

Standard German language course B1 at Logik Sprachzentrum is suitable for students who have passed Start Deutsch 2 Examination with at least 65 percent marks and consists of 144 Teaching units delivered in classroom with the use of Audio-Visual and powerpoint presentations. Netzwerk B1 books are used during the courses in addition to abundant handouts and teaching materials from other publishers. The duration of the course is 8 weeks and may vary based on the overall group performance.

FAQs Standard German Courses

1. I am a graduate student and planning to study for a Master degree in English medium. Up to which level must I learn for my day to day life in Germany?

Usually, graduate students aspiring to study in Germany do not require German language for admission in a Master degree program, however some universities may ask students to present a Start Deutsch 2 Certificate depending upon the program they choose. For day to day activities in Germany, we recommend students learn up to at least A2 level of German which will make them at ease when it comes to speaking for their daily lives in Germany. However, if it is possible you should take time and learn German language courses upto B1 level as this will make things a lot much easier in day to day life and to find part time jobs once you reach Germany.

2. What is the difference between Intensive and Standard German courses?

The basic difference is in the objective of the course. Intensive German courses are for students who want to study German taught programs in Germany whereas standard German courses are for students who want to study English taught Bachelor/Master programs in Germany. Intensive German courses are a bit more lengthy and more power-packed and contain more grammatical training and technical aspects of German language which is required for studies at a university. Standard German courses are light in nature and focus on mainly the spoken or communication German to help students adjust and get used to their day to day life in Germany and to find part time jobs.

3. What is the cost of the standard German course per level?

The cost of Standard German course is NRs 12430/- per level for books and materials per level.

4. Are there any other fees apart from the course fees and the books and materials?

There are no other fees for internal examinations or anything such apart from the course fees and the cost of books.

5. I have completed A1 at another institute. Am I eligible to join A2 Standard German course at Logik Sprachzentrum?

Yes, you are eligible to join A2 standard German course at Logik Sprachzentrum but before that you must take a placement test (free of cost) so that we can determine your level and proficiency in German language. If you fail to pass the test or your German language proficiency is not upto A2 requirement, you will have to repeat an ongoing A1 course (for a subsidised fee) before you can start the A2 course.

6. What is the length of the standard German course?

The length of the Standard German course is 8 weeks.

7. What is the duration of the classes per day?

The duration of the classes is 2 hours 15 minutes per day or 3 teaching units of 45 mins each.

8. Are there any discounts in the course fees for groups?

Usually there are no discounts for individual applicants, however Logik Sprachzentrum offers a 10 percent discount to students who come in groups of 2 or more students and get admission on the same day.

9. Do I get a certificate of participation at the end of the course?

Yes, we offer a certificate of participation free of cost for students who complete the course at least with 80 percent attendance and pass all the chapter tests and internal examinations. Students who have attendance less than 80 percent or fail the internal and or chapter tests are not eligible to receive a certificate of participation.

10. What will happen if I fail the A1 final examination?

It is very unlikely that you will fail the final A1 examination if you are regular in the course and allocate at least 2-3 hours of self studies at home. Due to unforeseen circumstances in case you fail the A1 final examination, you are eligible to repeat the A1 course at a discount of 40% on the regular course fees.

11. How can I get admitted in the Standard German Course?

You can apply online on our website and pay the course fees in person or deposit in our bank account to confirm your place in our German course or alternatively you can visit us in person and complete the paper based application form followed by course fee payment at the reception. It is important that you come along with a copy of your passport of citizenship certificate and 2 passport size photos or you can later submit once your class starts.

12. What is the admission requirement for the A1 course?

There are no such admission requirements since our German language courses are not university courses but language training courses, however we strongly recommend you to have at least 8th grade English which will allow you to have an overview or comparative understanding of German language in the A1 level.
